The Reading Habits Tag

I started reading in grade school. The usual kiddie book like my favorite Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I had a pop-up version and I even memorized it! The first ever novel that I read was Jessica Haggerthwaite: Media Star. I don’t know where it is now but it made me love the hobby more. If only I have so much money, I think I would’ve chosen to buy more than read ebooks. Huhu what is broke life.

Where do you like to read?

Not that I like it, but I noticed that I get to finish more pages when I’m in a car or commuting. I almost finished a book once when I was on my way home from school. But aside from that, I don’t really have a preferred place to read. A café can pass as one but I get so distracted by people’s movements because I’m observant like that. Hehe.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmark. I have these Help! bookmarks which are so cute and don’t ruin the pages. I had ones before that ripped them and I used a concert ticket after that.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter / certain amount of pages?

Not really. I stop when I don’t feel like reading anymore. But at times, whenever there’s a boring part in a book, I try as much as possible not to stop there and keep reading until I reach exciting chapters. And then I stop. LOL.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

I can. But I don’t usually do that. Maybe chips.

Music or TV while reading?

Music!! Lucas Scott taught me well. Hahaha! I remember watching One Tree Hill and wondering why the heck Chad Michael Murray was reading and listening to music both at the same time. How is that even possible?! And then I tried it. And it did work. Listening even made me read faster because there’s no second voice in my head. (Weirdo! LOL)

One book at a time or several at once?

Several at once. I currently have three in my list. The other one I’ve been holding off for a couple of months now.

Reading at home or everywhere?

Just like the first question, everywhere. But at home means being distraction-free, right?

Reading aloud or silently in your head?

Both. Most of the time silently in my head. I mostly read aloud whenever I repeat certain exchange of conversations that are just so powerful. I change voices and act as if I’m the character. (Frustrated actor hahaha!)

Do you read ahead or skip pages?

I’ve never really skipped pages. I actually hate it whenever I miss a word. I really have to read each and every word because it feels as if I’m cheating on myself if I do. Hehe! Also, I like being surprised.

Break the spine or keep it like new?

I hate breaking the spine. I think most of my books are almost like new. The ones that broke are normally the ones I loved reading and took me longer to finish. Hihi.

Ebook or paperback?

Because, well, money is the primary problem, I cling on to ebooks. But I have paperbacks and I intend on adding more to my collection.

Do you write in your books?

I do. I highlight the lines that I love the most. I know it’s a big no-no for a lot of bookworms but I like scanning through a book a unearthing lines that hit me.

Who do you tag?

Just like Joyce, anybody who likes books! :) ETA: CLAUI!!!

  1. I try to keep my books looking new as long as possible! XD It drives me nuts when I can see the spine starting to break or the corners getting all smooshed.
